Together in Recovery: A Testament to AA’s Power

Greetings Brothers,

The issue of Substance abuse and excessive drink in our culture is harmful to our short – term health.  I was a young man in a time of my life.  I though drinking was a harmless act, to become intoxicated with alcohol when I was becoming a Young adult.  I was wrong,  Alcohol had the power to change my relations with women and it had an effect on my thought pattern I did not agree with.

I joined groups with Alcoholics Anonymous and I did not reject the idea of a formula to solve addiction of Alcohol.  I did not reject this idea of meeting in assembly to solve Alcoholism.  My faith in the local churches strengthened my will to reject this destructive pattern of social misbehavior and intoxication.

I used to think I could experiment with Alcohol and drink in excess to alter my mood.  This is not true.  This liquid it affects the body, and it causes a dependent or preference to the liquid being in the body and it can last for a very long time.  No matter what the effects of Alcohol, I will continue to place my faith in the Group Alcoholics Anonymous, I know liquids like this can cause changes in the body and lead to self destruction.  I know to never reject this idea of a Fellowship in assembly to share and support another man in need.

To overcome this disease is not simple and the help is essential for our groups to remain healthy and useful.  I am grateful for every minute and hour that was spared to me as a brother who needed this help.  Thanks to AA I know how to be better and how to avoid Alcohol when I have a urge or weakness and to use our fellowship to become healthier.

Thank You.
