My name is Robson and I am a recovering alcoholic who, only by the grace of God through Alcoholics Anonymous which I came to believe in, just for today I have not used drink. Born and raised in the outskirts of São José dos Campos in the interior of São Paulo state in Brazil, I have no memory of seeing my parents drinking. On the streets, I tried alcohol and other drugs and felt pleasure and fascination with the magic it did to my mind. What was pleasure turned into necessity, and the consequences became physical, mental, and spiritual problems in my life, at home, and at work. In an attempt to improve my situation, I would make some forced stops in drinking, and when I thought I could drink in a controlled way, I found myself drunk again. I found an Alcoholics Anonymous room and was very well received. Through the literature, I met a group of internationalists who communicated through letters. I joined this group and through it began communicating with people from all over by correspondence. The language of the heart is transmitted through the tip of the pencil. My daughter, now 10 years old, helps me color the letters. I see how blessed I am to know this fellowship and have the opportunity to share with various people like me who seek sobriety each day. I receive a quarterly bulletin with the stories of these people who help me live sober one day at a time. Thank you for being part of my life. God bless you and see you there.
